Sunday Fun Day

Great weekend of a birthday party, a going away party for friends doing ministry abroad, and a baby shower for one of my best friends Jennifer. She and her husband Morgan are welcoming baby Luke into this world in March, and I couldn't be more excited.

The hostesses and the lady of the hour...

Ellie put together this amazing Mimosa bar which was definitely a hit. Oh, and in case you were wondering, that was Ellie and her husband Drew's song playing at the end of the newest How I Met Your Mother episode. They're kind of a big deal. :-)

Party favors by Kelly

For hostess gifts, Jenn got us these adorable personalized glass cutting boards in various patterns from Haymarket Designs. If you're in need of a great gift idea, check out their website. I told Jenn she definitely raised the bar for hostess gifts.

While I was at the shower, Madeline was eating baby Mum Mums and staring at herself in the mirror (2 of her favorite things to do). That sounds like fun too...

Swingin'

It was a beautiful day in Nashville, so we decided to take a walk to the Dragon Park near where we live to try out the swings. This was the first time Maddie had actually been swinging, and I'd say it was a success. Only problem is she's still a little small for the swing so we had to stuff a blanket in to keep her in place. haha.

Right after Maddie was born, we took a stroll to Central Park almost every day. As you can see below, she was too young to appreciate it then, so it was fun to be able to enjoy a park with her for the first time (even if it's not central park).

Happy Birthday Stephen Wright!

Happy birthday to my favorite guy in the world! Stephen, you are an amazing husband, father, and friend. I am so thankful Madeline has a Godly man like you in her life. Happy 30th birthday to a man.....

Who knows how to take a good picture...

Who's not afraid to "let his hair down".....

Who knows how to relax....

Even in unexpected places...

Who can run 26.2 miles and still look this good...

Who's not afraid to get in touch with his feminine side....

Who loves and serves this little munchkin so well....

And most importantly, a man who can instill fear in the opposing soccer team with just one look....

(Hickman Co. senior soccer picture, circa 2001)

Love you.

"Walk this Waaay"

So the little lady decided to start walking today! She's been standing by herself for a while, but hadn't really taken any steps yet. She took a few steps this morning before church, and I thought it might be something she does once and then doesn't do again for a few days. So naturally we were so surprised when we picked her up from the church nursery and saw her walking towards us! The nursery volunteers said she kept doing it the whole time (as long as they kept clapping their hands and telling her good job). Way to go Maddie girl!
Unfortunately I can't get the video to upload, so for now here's a picture of the Madster that Stephen calls her "Let's start a revolution" pic (apparently a revolution with teacups).

Welcome to the world Madeline Rose!

So this post is about 10.5 months too late, but better late than never I suppose. Madeline Rose was born February 22nd, 2012 at NY Presbyterian Hospital (I mention that because we were 3 floors below where I work which is pretty fun).

This is the first pic we took of her. I love it because this is exactly how I remember seeing her. Huge eyes and this expression of "What just happened, and can I please go back inside?".

Sweet girl...

We ended up walking home from the hospital. Basically the cab line at the hospital was too long since it was raining, and I knew we could already be home by the time we got a cab. Rest assured, this was no super feat. It's a 7 minute walk. :-). We all laugh when we see this pic because my mom totally looks like a bag lady weirdly staring at us.

 1st days at home...

Maddie's first suitor (I'd get in trouble if I didn't mention her other boyfriend Draper Richey). Here's my favorite 3 year old John Clyde Ellis Jr. That top right picture might be one of my all time favorite pics...

 Here she is today.....

Obviously there are a lot of pics and events in between to mention, but this is will have to do for now.

Journey to Baby Dubs

*Started this post while I was still pregnant, and as you can see, nothing ever became of it until now. I always told myself that I would start blogging once we had kids. And then I said once we got a better computer. Now that the latter has occurred, here we go....

Welcome to the Wright Family blog! I've started this blog in order for friends and family to stay updated on Baby Wright. (Our friend Summer coined the term "Baby Dubs", which I also like to use). While we've been in NY, I feel like I've been able to keep up with our friends and family in other states through their blogs, and I wanted to be able to do that same thing.
It's been a fun 10 (it really bugged Stephen that society lies to you and tells you pregnancy is 9 months) months leading up to the arrival of baby Dubs. I've really felt pretty great throughout my whole pregnancy, which has been a huge blessing. I think that's part of the reason the pregnancy seemed to have flown by. Here's a quick snapshot timeline of June til February.

Stephen made me take a digital pregnancy test in addition to the standard "+ or -" one. He said he needed to see "pregnant" in order to believe it. This is shortly after we found out.
